| What Others Say |
Over the past ten years I have worked with Dr. Jo Vogel on many papers and publications, both as an academic and as a business manager. Her work stands out for me for multiple reasons. First she is able to improve the readability a lot while only changing a few words or lines. This means the original meaning is preserved while the result gets much better. Second she understands the essence of the IT field which means she sometimes makes justified comments like "The third section is less clear in its intent and meaning than the first two, you may to take another look at it". This is an appreciated extra service, given her insight into my field. Third is that she is usually able to turn around papers very fast. In my experience is has been days, rather than weeks.
I have recommended Dr. Vogel to many of my colleagues and every time we have been very happy with her work.

I have collaborated with Jo Vogel on at least 10 papers. I was impressed by the quality of the feedback, the constructive nature feedback to me and my students and the fast response we received. If we were in a hurry for a conference deadline, we could send her our draft by the evening of European time and had the responses on the next morning. And as she directly proposes in Word, we did not have much work updating her changes.
The work of Mrs Vogel is also very economic. With 20% of the effort to correct a draft to a perfect paper, she corrected it up to 80% perfection and thus to a state, which is typically acceptable to a conference submission. And after acceptance, we then jointly brought it to perfection. I can really recommend her for her work.

While maybe great writers may not need a proof-reader, most scientists do. We all have our own specialty and we may be the best in the world at it but that does not automatically mean that we have to be great writers too. Nonetheless, we still need to write our ideas, propositions, and findings in a way that others will be able to understand and appreciate.
Many journal articles are already very cryptic since they use specialized language but that does imply that they have to be boring or difficult to understand because of less-than-perfect writing. Furthermore, in this global village we may have to write in languages that are not our mother-tongue and that makes it even more difficult. While I spend a lot of time trying to chose the most appropriate words I still fail to write as good as many writers out there but I believe that my ideas are still very worthwhile. Therefore, I often use a proof-reader to help me improve my manuscripts. I certainly cannot afford to have a proof-reader for every iteration of a journal article but I find the investment worthwhile for maybe the first submission and certainly for the last one before it goes into press.
Having a person who is not only a very good writer but also a smart individual review your writing also means that you can get additional insights that can help you improve in even whole passages improving not just the form but the substance of the paper. I hired the services of Dr. Vogel for my last Management Science article and I am very happy with the results. Although it was written for academics and published in a very academic outlet, it caught the interest of more than one hundred journalists around the world and got mentioned in many more news outlets worldwide.
I will certainly hire her services for my next article.

Working with Jo Vogel is a delight as it is always a learning experience! Jo works with track changes allowing me to learn from my mistakes. Her work is clear and her input helps me to clarify my thoughts. It is so important to trust ones editor abilities and knowledge for a non-native English speaker. Any text is a set of sentences that represent the deep thoughts of the writer. After months not to tell years of work on a research article it is crucial for me to trust my editor abilities. More it requires a certain talent for an editor to switch from topics, vocabularies and journal requirements (e.g., English, Australian, American). Well, that is certainly Jo her talent! Jo has edited about 10 of my recent papers published. I am looking fwd to more!"

"Working with Dr. Jo has been a tremendous benefit to myself and it really help a lot on the language of my PhD dissertation. She is responsive, flexible and of the highest editing quality and integrity. What's more, in my eye, she is more like a perfect English teacher than just an editor. She does not simply correct the grammar errors in my dissertation, but also teach you how to avoid the same errors in the future. She does not simply point out my language issues, but also sometime indicate some unclear logical problems in my dissertation. In a word, working with Dr. Jo is enjoyable and interactive, she can motivate you from a passive service receiver to an active English learner, and finally improve your English written skills. She is the best."
